In this episode Nicolas talks about the curveball PMDG threw the community by announcing that the NG3 would be an FS 2020 exclusive and subsequently releasing the NGu for P3Dv4. They give their impression of The NGu as well as talk about the disappointing way XP devs distribute their products (even when releasing for P3D).
In this episode of FSRideAlong Nicolas talks about some P3D troubleshooting, the time it will take simmers to adopt FS2020, whether or not you should stop investing in your current sim platform and a sad loss to the FSRideAlong Community.
In this episode I share my reactions to EAA’s preview of FS2020. The article was written by Hal Bryan former Flight Sim developer and current Senior Editor for EAA Digital and Print Content and Publications. We will be hearing directly from Hal in the next episode!
In this episode I talk about the challenges of building a community around my flight sim stream. I also talk about my degraded flying skills due to automation dependency, internet troll and my flight sim and aviation background.

In this episode I talk about a flight sim job opportunity that I missed due to not being in Seattle. I also talk about my new obsession over The E Jet which lead me to The Aerosoft CRJ. Long story short: The CRJ doesn’t have an autothrottle (I knew this going in). I hate The CRJ because it doesn’t have an autothrottle. This same line of thought leads me to XPlane and The X-Crafts Ejet. I question if I need Active Sky to really enjoy XP. Or, can I get the Ejet and fly in XP without AS? Lastly I am streaming again at https://www.twitch.tv/nicnacjak/
In this episode I profess my new found love for Airbus in the form of The FSLabs A320. I also speculate about what Microsoft will do to get their market share back. Finely I spend some time wondering if being in the flight sim media game should be a paying gig.
In this episode I talk about the classic FeeThere EMB 170 and 190 and some of the challenges they had from a systems perspective. I convey my hope that V2 of The FeelThere EMB 170-195 will be a good systems airplane. I also talk a bit about multiple developers making the same scenery.
In this episode I talk about my thoughts on Microsoft Flight Sim 2020. I also briefly go over my impressions of TFDI’s PACX, Drzewieck Design’s Chicago Airports, and LatinVFR’s New Orleans. It’s a short episode. I will try to post more often.
In this episode I wonder if comparing every flight sim plane developer to PMDG is a good idea. I also talk about my recent flight sim activity. I also talk about my upgraded computer. Lastly, I mention my search for a job in the flightsim or aviation industry My renewed FSRideAlong Stream is available at twitch.tv/nicnacjak
In this episode I wearily walk you through the swiss cheese model that led to having to reinstall P3D. During my ramblings I cover LatinVFR’s BWI, FSDreamTeams’ Charlotte, Drzewiecki Design’s Seattle and New York and the good old QW 787. All this as I limp along in a 737 leg from Austin to Seattle in FSX. Care to ride along?
In this episode I talk about my May purchases for P3Dv4 (Orbx Australia, Orbx Melbourne International and Aresoft Frankfurt), my time long hauling it in the QualityWings 787 in FSX:SE, and some install problems that MegaSceneryEarth has. Enjoy your May flying. I'll most likely see you next month!
In this episode I talk about Dovetail ending production on Flight Sim World and what it means for the community. I also talk a bit about using FSX:SE to fly the QualityWings 787 from Flightbeams' San Francisco and FSDreamTeam's Los Angles to Orbx's Melbourne and ImagineSim's Singapore.
My heartfelt concordances to The Flight Sim World Team
In this episode I rant about the bugs in The CaptainSim 757, the lack of airports for P3D v4, and how my exceptions for airliner add ons not being met. Just call me Captain Curmudgeon.
In this episode I talk about my upgrade to P3D and what kept me from doing it for so long. Scenery has been less of a challenge but other add ons do cost a fair amount of $$$. As always email me for feedback or guest ideas email@example.com
In this episode I talk to Collin Biedenkapp of TFDi about what it’s like to be a developer.
In this episode I review The QualityWings 787 for FSX. My general reaction is that it is a disappointing release that flies poorly and lacks fidelity in the required automation systems. I also talk about The VAS issues that Orbx Arlanda suffers from in FSX noting that wouldn’t be an issue is P3D V4. Finally I talk about the future of the podcast. Check out On Approach for an additional podcast you can listen to.
In this episode I talk about what I am learning from the manual QuailityWings released for their upcoming 787. I also talk about where the 787 will fit into the fleet of my personal VA. Finally, I insult P3D user and talk about how I am going to milk my FSX investment for as long as I can. It is no doubt an ego thing on both sides.
In this episode I talk about my flight sim addiction. I also talk about The Aerosoft CRJ, the end of FSX, P3D, Xplane and the wait for the Qualitywings 787. I talk about how my reduced flight sim spending and my resistance to P3D is going to make doing this podcast hard. But, rest assured I will not podfade! Welcome to Season 4!
In this episode I discuss the folly of only developing for P3D. In addition to the nagging license issue there is also the matter of lost business in the X Plane and hypothetical FSW market.

In this episode we talk with Rob Burgon about his new job flying the 737. We talk about how the aircraft has the overhead panel that brings you back to the 60s when it was designed while the instrument panel features the glass cockpit you'd expect from a modern airliner. We also talk a little about the reality of choosing a plane to fly in a modern airline .
You can find Rob’s book Piano Burning and Other Fighter Pilot Traditions here. We interviewed him about his book in Season 3 Episode 5 of FSRideAlong.
In this episode we talk to Kyle Rodgers about a cross country trip he took ferrying a Piper Seminole from Ocean City, Maryland to Concord, California. We also talk about The PMDG 747, beta testing and the state of the flight sim industry and next gen sims.
In this episode I talk about the news from Flight Sim Con. Namely, The QualityWings 787, The LevelD 757, Flightbeam’s KMSP and KPDX. Also mentioned is FSDreamTeam’s KCLT which I’ve put on the bottom of my wish list. This month I got ImagineSim’s KAUS and FlyTampa’s Copenhagen and Athens.
In this episode I give a short preview of Navigraph’s Chart App for Android. I also catch you up on my latest flying adventures, scenery purchases and planned purchases. Spend money to keep to The Flight Sim Industry great.
I talk with Nicole and Evan of FlightSimCon to go over this year's event. Dovetail, Lockheed Martin and Laminar Research will be at the show talking about their next gen platforms as well as a who’s who of flight sim developers and real world aviation outfits. For more info about the event see flightsimcon.com
